Overview

This chemical test kit measures ammonia concentrations in rivers and drinking water reservoirs. High ammonia levels there can point to agricultural or urban pollution. When the concentration rises high enough, it can also change the smell and taste of water. In industrial applications, high concentrations of ammonia can even cause corrosion in pipes.

How the Test Works

The HI-3824 finds the ammonia concentration of a water sample in several easy steps. Under strongly alkaline conditions, the Nessler reagent reacts with ammonia and forms a yellow-coloured complex. You then compare the sample colour with the colour comparison cube to read the result.
